This is a new design of bifold I’ve been playing with that allows easy access to the areas behind the card slots while still having enough retention to be usable. In keeping with my love of monotone theming I did this run of wallets all in olive tones, using olive Dakota from Conceria La Perla Azzurra and oil-dyed olive Japanese Shinki shell cordovan.

This wallet stacks six cards horizontally (three per side), which hang on flaps that allow easy access from the top and sides for storing papers, receipts and business cards. Behind that is a dedicated billfold for your cash. This method of attaching the card slots doesn’t change the overall dimensions of the wallet compared to my more traditional design but I believe it adds a lot of functionality and flexibility. It also allows for some more interesting use of lines and curves, which combine to make this a very attractive piece.

Shinki shell is dense and carries a beautiful shine. Due to the oil dyed finish I chose to burnish all of these wallets with a black dye to produce a consistent color at the edge, which plays nicely with the dark colors of the shell and Dakota. Olive hand stitched polyester thread completes the ensemble.
