Description

Long considered the classic wallet design, the bifold is a mainstay of every day carry solutions despite a seemingly continuous onslaught of novelty products attempting to replace it. When you get right down to it, something that just plain works is pretty darn hard to get rid of, especially when they can be made beautiful.

whiskey and green bifold wallets

These traditional-styled wallets are intended for a person who needs to carry at least 6-10 cards, and more often than not also finds themselves carrying bills or other paper items. Consequently, these are larger than other wallets. The Six Slot design measures in at 3.5″ x 4.5″ folded, and the Eight Slot design comes in at 4″ x 4.5″. This size allows the wallet to easily stack multiple cards in the slots and still remove them easily, as well as store bills completely without need for folding in half.

Each wallet features either six or eight individual card slots, two hidden slots (one beneath each bank of cards) and a fully lined billfold.

These wallets are made with Italian ‘Buttero’ (meaning Cowboy) vegetable tanned leather from Conceria Walpier tannery in Tuscany. Buttero is prized for its rich depth of color, smooth consistent grain finish and patina development over time and use. Every wallet is completely hand stitched with waxed polyester thread, meaning that these features combine to make a wallet that looks beautiful and is also long lasting.

Unlike many other handmade bifolds for sale, I make the effort to line each billfold with finished leather as opposed to just leaving the unfinished flesh side of the exterior visible. This takes additional time and material to accomplish, but it results in a piece that is definitively a step above others in its price range. If you’ve chosen a two-toned wallet, the billfold will be lined in the color of the interior. A good combination of colors can create not just a wallet, but a conversation piece.

Every wallet is a hand made item from start to finish. That includes cutting, assembling, stitching and edge finishing. These are made to my own design and dimensions so I feel confident in saying that these are truly my wallets, even if the inspiration is common to many others like them. Depending on my queue at the time, it takes me on average 3-4 weeks to fulfill an order. This length of time can be longer if I have a lot of orders ahead but I try to keep my customers appraised of how long they can expect to wait to receive their wallet. When completed, I ship via USPS Priority Mail with insurance.
