Mid Wallet, Sunset Limited Motif
This special color variant of the Mid Wallet design takes its cues from the Southern Pacific Railroad’s classic ‘Daylight’ livery for locomotives and passenger cars from the 1930’s to the early 1970’s.
Often called the ‘most beautiful train in the world’, its striking color pattern included deep reds, orange, yellow and white. While it may be impossible to fully live up to that kind of high praise, I like to think I captured at least a little bit of that beauty with this design.
I was able to put together this special color arrangement by using Chestnut, Orange, Yellow and Brown Buttero, with a white stitch line.
The exterior is done in a dark brown, and can be made with or without an external billfold.
This design is ideal for someone who needs to carry 4-8 cards, and only occasionally carries bills or other papers. Behind each bank of cards is a hidden slot that easily carries business cards or folded bills. For those that carry paper bills more regularly, there is an optional external billfold dedicated to that purpose, able to hold any US and most international denominations when folded in half. This little wallet does all this and measures only 3″ x 4″ when folded.
These wallets are made with Italian ‘Buttero’ (meaning Cowboy) vegetable tanned leather from Conceria Walpier tannery in Tuscany. Buttero is prized for its rich depth of color, smooth consistent grain finish and patina development over time and use. Every wallet is completely hand stitched with waxed polyester thread, meaning that these features combine to make a wallet that looks beautiful and is also long lasting.
Every wallet is a hand made item from start to finish. That includes cutting, assembling, stitching and edge finishing. These are made to my own design and dimensions so I feel confident in saying that these are truly my wallets, even if the inspiration is common to many others like them.
Depending on my queue at the time, it takes me on average 3-4 weeks to fulfill an order. This length of time can be longer if I have a lot of orders ahead but I try to keep my customers appraised of how long they can expect to wait to receive their wallet. When completed, I ship via USPS Priority Mail with insurance.
